Lions Clubs are part of community life, in the cities and in the country. Clubs are easily identified by their distinctive Logo, the trademark of our International Association, and the 'We Serve'; motto.
Lions Australia is part of an international association, filled with people who are joined by the common desire to make their communities better, by using their creativity, enthusiasm and energy. Lions is one of the world's largest service clubs, with 1.35 million members and 45,000 clubs worldwide. Australia has over 1,400 clubs with over 31,000 members.
Membership is open to all men and women of the community in good standing.
This website is where you can find out about your own local Lions Club. The men and women in our club are focussed on giving back to the community and helping the needy, at home and world wide. There is no pressure to give time or money; we work to raise our funds.
Whenever a Lions Club get together, communities get better and problems get smaller. We help where help is needed in our community and beyond, with energy and integrity. "We serve".
The Lions Club of Victor Harbor and Port Elliot's inaugural meeting was in February 1969 and its Charter was received in April. The club has long served the local community - the hospital, schools, sporting bodies, youth and people with disabilities. Beyond the local scene we have supported emergency relief appeals for people in need through drought, bush-fire and flood. We support the Lions Clubs Intenational Foundation (LCIF). You can learn of the work of the LCIF on this link:
Lions continuing projects on a national or international level, such as Hearing Dogs and Drug Awareness also receive financial assistance through money raised by our projects and events. We depend on the support of our wonderful local community, which is as generous and reliably supportive as we are hard-working.
Today the Lions Club of Victor Harbor and Port Elliot Inc. has over 50 members. We meet twice a month; our Work Meeting is on the first Tuesday and our Dinner Meeting is on the third Tuesday. See home page for details.
