Anthea Rice Royal Flying Doctor ServiceThe lions Club of Victor Harbor and Pt Elliot enjoyed a presentation by Anthea Rice from the R F D S .
The RFDS is now in is 90th year of service.
As most of us know the RFDS operates a 27/7 service and also runs health clinics on properties in the Outback.
There is a call for medical help every 2 mins.
What a lot of members did not realise was that 1 in 20 of these calls the patient had a metropolitan post code, meaning that while we are holidaying in remote areas a medical cricis arises where we also need the help of the RFDS.
Pictured is Anthea receiving a cheque from President Ruth from the Lion's Club.

NewsPhoto: Left to right: Lyn and Merv Mortimer (Victor Harbor & Port Elliot Lions Club), Charlie Paterson (General manager, Marketing and Public Relations, RFDS, Mary and Bruce Morris (Renmark Lions)
Merv Mortimer, Victor Harbor & Port Elliot Lions club member and PDG, is one of the organisers of the Bash.
The Bash was started by the Lions Club of Millicent in 1990 and runs alternate years; it attracts support from many Lions clubs in South Australia and this year there were 29 vehicles in the convoy. Merv and his wife, Lyn, took part with two other members of Lions Club of VH&PE, Trevor Hentschke and his wife Annie, and Vic Dowling.
The event is more than a fundraiser – it has become a tradition and a lot of fun and fellowship for the participants. Over the years organising Lions clubs have been Millicent, Noarlunga, Renmark and Victor Harbor/Port Elliot. You don’t even have to be a Lions club member to go – in fact the Bash is looking for more numbers to participate so the event can grow. Planning is under way for the 2017 event, so if you are interested contact this club, the sooner the better!
